Customer Question

Problem with 4 year old Bosch 13H hydropower ignition system.

Does not light every time - sometimes takes 3 to 4 goes to get ignition.

Seems to be beyond local plumber who's in throw away mode.

Any advise most gratefully accepted.

Craig :

Is the cable connection tight to electrode? Sand off the electrode with light sandpaper and clean the ground and tighten.

Craig :

If there is any high resistance from dirt or connections, you loose the voltage to arc at electrode drastically.

Craig :

Must be tight, clean and full voltage from high voltage circuit.

If the ignitor is sparking, but no lighting is occuring, it means the gas is not there. If you're sure the igniter is sparking suffeciently as it does each time when it lights, Look at the gas valve and wire connections. Gas valve must have power at the point of ignition, verify that. If the ignitor is arcing but the gas valve is not powered open, no start. Could be no voltage at valve, then it appears and it lights. Monitor the valve during starting and watch when it lights.
