Have a Maytag Neptune, Model #MAH4000AWW. When I push the Start Button, the On light comes on, it begins to fill the water but after 40-55 seconds it shuts off. It can be in the pump/drasin mode and the same shutdown occurss. Can you help diagnose the cause of the problem? I have an ohmeter and some skills to test. I have presently removed the printed circuit board
hello, welcome to just answer. my name is XXXXX XXXXX and i will be happy to assist you with your problem. which board have you removed? The machine control board or the motor board?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
I have removed the main control board from top/back of the machine
looking at that board, the most common thing that burns out is the diode for the door lock. looking at the board, near the center at the bottom there is 2 black relay boxes. the diode is just above it. if it looks burnt then it is bad. i do not believe this is your problem though. When the machine starts then stops you most likely have a bad motor board. Has this machine ever had the motor and motor controller changed? If not then you need to replace it. they have made an up date to this cause they had so many problems with this. please send me your complete model and serial number from the machine and i will get you the correct part number. you can also remove the motor board and check the fuse on it. i would bet that it is blown. this fuse can not be replaced. you change the motor and board as it is sold as a kit.

Don't believe I have any relays near the center. Have a large white box in lower left and a black box in the lower right. Think they are both relays. What does a diode look like? Is it a small black semi circle shaped component about 1/4 inch tall?

It is a Maytag Neptune Washer, Model #MAH4000AWW Serial #63711827YY

My neighbor is a Radio Tech so I'd bet he can install a new fuse holder. What is the fuse rating?

Don't suppose Maytag would supply the updated board?????

if the fuse is bad then there is a problem with the board. this is why you do not change the fuse. The motor and board have been updated thats what im saying and this is why it needs to be changed. i need to step out for a while but will get you the part number as soon as i return.
Customer: replied 6 years ago.

I'm also confident that my radio tech neighbor can repair the existing faulty motor board.

He can readily change any faulted component.

Suspect a motor and board are pretty pricey

Hope to hear from you when you get back.

Pulled out the motor circuit board and the fuse seems to be okay. It is not black or smoked and wire filament is intact. I put the ohm meter across it and there is continuity/no impedance

Sorry about the delay. Did you find the tech sheet in the console of the unit?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.

There is a sinle line diagram of the wiring and switches and relays and plug in points to the printed circuit boards. I did not see any single line of the printed circuit boards.

Trust I can start up again in the morning

My son has a wrestling match at 530 so i will not be here till around 8pm tomorrow est. i would be glad to assist you if you still need assistance.
Customer: replied 6 years ago.

Haven't got it working so appreciate your assistance. I'm on MST so does this mean 6PM my time???????

You'd asked about the SLD. I was previously and Electrical Engineer and have no problem doing some testing with 120V, ohm meter, and leather gloves for safety.

Unable to successfully resolve my Maytag washer problem.

Did get a price from local parts supply. Ouch- $300 for the motor board & $205 for the motor. Likley can do better on the internet. Like to be sure it's the motor board & motor due to cost, particularily if I don't need it

????Could it be a plugged entry to the pressure switch? Can one get to it without taking the tub somewhat a part? A pretty big job. Should be able to test for voltage on output of pressure switch.

????Could be the door latching motor? Washer switches off in approximately 45secs. Door lock indicator lite is not yet on. Repeated pushing of the START Button does only occassionally get the Door Locked indicator lite on.

You can check the pressure tube by removing the end from the pressure switch and blowing through it. This is not your problem though. if this was your problem the pump would run constantly trying to drain water that is not there. the problem that you are having is only one of two things. the control board or the motor controller. As i stated earlier i need your complete model and serial number to get the part number. This model had a revised motor and controller that are sold as a kit. they come together for around $200. (i need the serial number to see if your washer was one that was updated).

Model # MAH4000AWW

Serial # XXXXX

yes this is the one that needs the upgraded motor and controller kit. They had all kinds of problems with the original ones. the kit is part number

This can be found at at this discounted price. you can also check at as they are sometimes cheaper.
when checking prices you want to enter the factory part number which is 12002039.
Customer: replied 6 years ago.

Problem has been resolved and washer running normally. I purchased a conversion kit locally and the parts store matched the original internet parts price of $225. However, quite a ways from Appliancesone price of $187!

I also take offence to your comment "as I stated earlier I need your complete model number and serial number" There is no need for the antagonistic comment!. And if you'd checked my Jan 17, 6:11 reply, they both were provided.

Great. Im sorry that you took that is any negative way. I was simply asking for your model and serial number. When i asked for it it was a day later and i did not realize that you had sent it already. I also see that you have not accepted my answer. Is there something else I can assist you with. Please let me know so that we can resolve any further issues. Again i was not being antagonistic, I apologize for it looking that way. looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you and have enjoy the rest of your weekend.
