Hi, my name is Peter.

You have a defective lid switch. It is mounted on the right side of the top, it is held on by 2 phillips screws. It usually comes apart or the lever breaks.

Thankyou for the answer. The switch does not look defective however is it a matter of removing it and getting a replacement? Does it make a difference to the answer that the water wont empty either

You can verify if it is defective by testing with an ohm meter. If the lid switch is bad it will not let the washer drain or spin. Does the timer advance to the off position or does it stop at the rinse cycle?
