Resolved Question:

I have an Electric Signature 2000 range/oven (by Tappan) where the oven is no longer worker. The range top is working. When I turn the oven knobs, they click but the light does not come on. The coil heats up to warm but that's it. Is there a part I can get to replace or repair this?

Hello. Thank you for choosing Just Answer. I will be helping you with your question today. You need to replace the coil that is heating up. That coil has to get hot enough to open the gas valve.

I have an electric range as indicated above. Also, the broiler coil does not work.

Sorry. Did this happen after self clean?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
No, not after self clean, but I had the oven on for a long period of time.

There should be a model stick on the oven opening behind the drawer or behind the lower drawer. Do you have the model #?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.

I believe it's 68 04853 087 000

Expert:  Appliance Man replied 6 years ago.
That doesnt come up. Do you have a multimeter?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
Not sure what a multimeter is
Expert:  Appliance Man replied 6 years ago.
It is a tool used to check voltage.
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
No I do not have that. I purchased this range in either 1992 or 1994. Does it sound like it's just burnt out completely?
Expert:  Appliance Man replied 6 years ago.
Yes it sounds like you have a bad control/thermostat.
