Frigidaire fws446ghs0 Resistance when drum tries to spin

Customer Question

Frigidaire fws446ghs0: Resistance when drum tries to spin. I have removed the front panel and was able to manually spin the pulley wheel below the drum. I can detect a grinding noise (like sand in a garbage disposal), when manually spinning the drum. This gritty grinding noise seems to emit from the "pumpkin" just below the drum.

Thanks for the question.

That pumpkin below the drum is that the blower housing.

No. As it turns out, the "pumkin" is the transmission unit. Cost to replace defective transmission is near the cost of a replacement washer.

I've replaced the entire washer. Problem solved.

Thanks for your input, though.

Thanks and God Bless.
