I am a tech, but...

I am a tech, but cannot figure this one out. Sears washer model 110.29822800, 1 year old. Homeowner said it was filling slowly, so he added water to the tub from the hose on the laundry tub. After he filled it, closed the lid and it did nothing. Waited, nothing. Manually advanced timer to spin, and it spun and pumped out the water. Tried to restart and it will not start, i.e. no water coming in. I opened the machine and check the water valve and both solenoids are good. Machine will spin, so lid switch is good. Disconnected the hose to the fill level switch and spun the machine, reconnected hose. Unplugged cord and waited. No changes, still will not start or fill, but will spin. Have any ideas?

if you set it on any cycle does the water valve hum does it hum on every cycle

No noise from valve on any cycle. I did not check to see if there was voltage with the machine open. Would have had to jumper or connect the lid switch and other components.

Spins on every cycle.

you have a bad timer my fellow tech the points within are burnt worn so it will no longer engage in those cycles or bring in water .see even though the water valve is bad if it has a full tub of water the timer should kick in to wash anyways. after full of water
