Hello, I've been using a GE Spacemaker Microwave just fine for the last 10 years, but today's incident shut it off entirely. My daughter was trying to warm up some wax in a plastic cup and I believe that the unit overheated (the glass plate was burning hot when I removed the cup from its surface). I stopped the microwave, opened it normally, but can't get it to work anymore, it turned off as if there were an overheating safety feature that kicked in and locked it. What can I do? Thanks!

<p>Sorry, did not see the whole text before. Yes, the unit WAS completely dead, BUT it started working again. I guess there was, indeed, an automatic safety feature which shut it off for 10 minutes because it got too hot... Anyway, it is working fine again!</p>

if it does it again then you will need to replace the temp thermostat thats on the magatron inside the microwave ,, Glad i could help you with your problem today so please hit the accept button for me before you leave so i may be paid ,, Thanks

Larry, thanks, XXXXX XXXXX unit started working again without any need for intervention, so I would be really bummed to pay $28 just for having asked a question for a problem which fixed itself automatically... What do we do?

but it really didnt fix itself and as i said you will end up having to replace the high temp thermostat so you see i did help you ,,, sorry but they do not fix themselfs
