VerifiedThe fridge compartment is cooled by forced air from the freezer. Turning the control to a lower setting makes the freezer temperature colder, as well.
The first thing to do is manually defrost the freezer coil. This job can be hastened by using a hair dryer or heat gun to melt the ice. If you pull the fridge out, while you're defrosting, you can remove the rear cover panel to check for a dust layer blocking the air flow through the condenser coil. If it's there, it's most likely the cause of the icing of the freezer coil. Vacuum any dust you find with a shop vacuum, and give the fridge a couple of hours to return to normal operation.
