My Maytag refrigerator freezer keeps freezing up. As a result the refrigerator gets warmer.
hi there is there ice build up on the freezer back wall
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Yes, there was prior to defrosting. I removed the back and melted all ice before reassembling and plugging in. It has gone from 70 deg to 4o deg in about 20 minutes. The problem is there must be some control that is bad, because I've never had to defrost manually before.
hi there is a heater and a defrost thermostat if either one is bad normally the defrost sensor the heater will not activate to melt the ice .

I don't know what either of those parts look like or where to find them in the unit Can you describe them and their location?

Customer: replied 7 years ago.

the whole glass looked in tact because it could be a tear in the string yet still be so close you cant tell
Customer: replied 7 years ago.

Ok would you recommend replacing the heater only?

if it looked good all the way across then you have a bad defrost sensor this part i would replace this part too they work together
