More than likely the burnt smell is the motor pulley spinning on the belt...Common problem would be the water pump pulley frozen up....The tension pulley frozen up #30....Once you remove the belt check that the pulleys spin freely...If all checks ok to this point then most likely the transmission is what is causing the binding...Bob
