this can only be one thing, the motor centrifugal switch is bad unfortunately they don't sell just the switch for this you have to replace the motor, Part 158I will look up the best price for you , thanks Bryan

Could it be part of the automatic drying sensor? I only ask because if you hold the start button in, the dryer will work.

no its the motor trust me , when you push the start button the centrifugal switch takes over and runs the motor on the run windings, it has nothing to do with the automatic sensor. sorry, I wish it were simple fix, thanks Bryan
