I have microwave Model# XXXXX#VF9935685, installed 03/01/04. Heat-up function just stopped--all other functions seem okay, but liquids do not heat. Unit makes a Scratchy, raspy noise a few seconds into a cycle. Breaker has been checked=okay
Please advise..XXXXX XXXXX
Hello Robert

This indicates that the mag tube is bad. It's a very common issue on microwaves. The mag is what actually produces the microwaves and when they go bad it can either make the noise you are describing or no noise at all. 98% of the time when a micro stops heating the mag is bad. This part, labor and trip charge cost around 300 to 350 dollars to fix not cost effective to fix. A micro can hold a couple thousand volts even unpluged it has a capacitor.
