Verifiedremove the belt and turn the pump pulley and tell me if it turns freely and if the bottom of the pump feels wet please
the bearing can fail at any time and chances are being this old there are been water leaking though the seals and into the bearings for a while and was just spung around as the transmission was spinning and didnt show a puddle
