We have an old Kemore chest freezer not working. Its a Kenmore Coldspot for Sears. Model #(NNN) NNN-NNNN The compressor starts to hum and then shuts off. Is it the compressor? Is it worth replacing? 4 am Saturday here and a side of beef in it so gotta do something fairly quick

well you can try changing the start relay and overload on this, its on the side of the compressor and starts the compressor, this may have failed, if you change it and it doesn't start then the compressor is shot, cheaper to replace the freezer at this point,

Part 726514the problem with this is the part is special order if still available. is there a local appliance parts store near you? you can get whats called a 3 in one capacitor start kit. these will fit almost any freezer and refrigerator and give the compressor a boost to start, other than that you will need a compressor, thanks Bryan
