Our Asko dishwasher is about 14 years old and does not clean

Customer Question

Our Asko dishwasher is about 14 years old and does not clean the dishes as well as it used to. Is this problem repairable or do these appliances have a 15 year life span?

Poor cleaning is either insufficient water fill or a worn wash pump impeller. Water valve is cheap; replacing impeller would run a few hundred at least on average as parts alone are a bit over $100. Water should be about 1/2 inch deep. So, this is simply a process of elimination for you to tell which problem you have and whether it is worth it or not to you.

The other things I have noticed is the soap dish does not always empty and the there is more water on the bottom of the unit after it has been run.

Well, soap issue is related to cleaning and draining issue may be a worn drain pump- about $80.
