I have a Maytag toploading clothes washing machine. It leaks

This answer was rated:

I have a Maytag toploading clothes washing machine. It leaks a lot of water onto the floor intermittently. Is it reparable, is it cost effective to do it? Is there a hole in the basket or a kid's sock stuck somewhere that it shouldn't be?

Hi thanks for the question.

Does it leak on the left or the right side of the washer.

I think on the right side, it seems like the pooling started near the front right corner but I am unable to tell for sure, how would I best tell?

On the bottom front of the front panel you will see two screws .

Remove those screws and pull the bottom of the front panel towards you.

Now you can see the inside of the washer. The water pump is at the right.

Check the clamps on the pump hose.It could be leaking from the clamps or the pump.

Thank-you for your assistance. I've taken off the front panel. The top of the water pump has ~1/8" water, the hose clamps are both tight and seem OK. Should I take the top hose off and reseat it?
Yes that clamp looses its strength, buy a clamp you can tighten and that should stop the leak.Thats a very good washer you have.

Thank-you again. Are we finished or should I get the clamp now and test it? I am happy to know that I have a good washer.

You can finish if you like. The clamp will fix the problem.

And that washer is one of the best on the market.
