Customer Question

I own a GE Profile Mircowave Oven, over the stove type, model # XXXXX
all works but has stopped microwaving (everything placed inside remains same temperature, does not heat).
Is there a part I can order, replace and fix this problem?

Here is the breakdown of your unit.

Test first the thermostat ( Part 74 )( Like the thermostat in your Clothes dryer. ) There should be continuity between the terminals. If it is good, then the problem could be the high voltage diode( Part 50 ). If the diode is good , then it would most likely be the magnetron. ( Part 73).

You can check the diode with a resistance meter. Set the meter to measure resistance in the range of 2k, There should be a reading in one direction only. Reverse the test leads and it should be no resistance at all.
