Resolved Question:

For a maytag epic z mhwz400...............I'm receiving the error code of f26.. (door latch) Have ran all applicable tests and results are the same f26. Will a bad faulty latch create erratic behavior and shut the machine down totally ? Has this been a common problem with these machines? Will replacing the switch correct this problem or does this f26 code run deeper than just the door latch alone?

You need to replace the latch. Make sure the polarity of the outlet is correct. you should get 120 volts out of the smaller slot on the on the outlet to ground.
