Our maytag quietseries 200 is not cleaning the dishes. The cycles are all running but when we open the door to get the dishes out many still are dirty.

do you have a complete model number for this unit so that I can better assist you? It should be located on a sticker around the frame of the unit if you open up the dor.

OK so this unit has only has 1 common problem when it comes to cleaning performance. So I'll go over that problem first.

If you take apart the pump and motor assembly there is a shaft that comes out of the motor to hold the black round wash impeller and chopper blade on. This shaft was originally made of plastic and the manufacturer began to find out that the shaft would strip out and quit producing the kind of pressure that was needed to wash the dishes properly. If you have a plastic shaft then you'll need to replace the seal kit to upgrade it to a metal shaft. Here is the part.

Now, if that part is already metal and looks good then you have something going on with the detergants or calcium build up. First, put a cup facing upwards in the top rack and fill it up with 1 cup of white vinegar. This cup will overfill slowly as the cycle goes on cleaning your dishwasher and getting rid of all the calcium build up. Next, make sure to use good detergant and rinse agent. The best on the market is Cascade Powder, and Jet Dry Turbo. The 7th Generation or any other environmentally friendly brand is probably the worst option if your looking for performance.
