My GE electric range (oven portion) wont turn off even though

Resolved Question:

My GE electric range (oven portion) won't turn off even though the knob is turned to the off position. I had to turn it off at the breaker. Is the control bad?

Yes, the control board is bad.

Actually, it could just the relay which is bad. It could be a stuck relay.

You can verify this by getting to the control board and gently bang the relay. A black square thing in the board. About one 1" X 1/2" rectangular . Then test the unit. If the unit is no longer heating, then the problem is the relay.

If the unit would still heat up, the relay could have a welded contact and would not separate anymore.
