Can I wire my Jenn-air Electric Cooktop to a regular outlet. It is in the island. My bodel is JEC9530BDB - 120/240V 7.5kw    120/208v 5.7kw
Hi Thanks for your question,Do you mean a regular outlet like the others you have in the house or a 220 volt outlet
Customer: replied 8 years ago.
Well, it is in an island and it is the only electrical source there. The wires in the outlet box are #12, so I think it is a regular outlet.
If its that then no It has to be wired for a stove,220 volts 40 amp breaker or a fuses,Have to be hooked up to the Island

Even if this is not a stove, just an electric cooktop?
same thing its 220 volts,The cook top needs 220 volts as well
Customer: replied 8 years ago.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to belabor the issue, but it needs 220 even if the cooktop says:

120/240v, or 120/208v?

The reason it says that 120 /240 is because the cook top has both voltages in the cook top ,But without the 220,You get no heat,
