ge bottom freezer (model pds20gscpalss) refridg coils freeeze

Resolved Question:

ge bottom freezer (model pds20gscpalss) refridg coils freeeze up ,resulting in the cooler box not holding temp. service tech replaced control board and checked out the remainder of defrost system (thermodisk fuse-m, and the heater with a ohm meter). says everything ok ... but, problem still exists.... now the tech wants to replace the control board and the thermodisk.... is there another route that i should take ? are there any other parts that should be considered thank you......................any advice would be appreciated..........................ed

Does the frost stop the fan from turning when this happens.

Is the fan stuck in ice or frost

no on the fan question... the fan is above the condenser , and does not get any ice buildup near it

I would replace the defrost thermostat.Its a part that can cause the coils to not completly thaw in one defrost cycle. It could short cycle cutting off the heater .

If this is the problem its an easy fix Its worth trying
