this is about a 4 hour job and to change it you have to take the top panel off first, then take the front panel off. You will need to disconnect allt he hoses and remove the wire harness from the stater motor mounted to the back of the unit. Disconnect the shocks at the bottom of the tub and remove the springs at the top of the tub--- remove the entire tub assembly.

Remove the counterweights fromt he outter tub and remove all the bolts holding the front 1/2 of the tub with the back 1/2 of the tub. You will need to replace the back 1/2 of the tub as well as the inner tub because it has the shaft that goes through the bearing. The bearing is part of the rear 1/2 of the tub. Check to see that rust hasn't been dripping on the stater motor in the back, because if it has you will spend more on fixing it then replacing it. Even if the motor is good between the back outter tub and the inner tub you are looking at about $500 in parts alone.
