Chas, we have a friend visiting who is an electrical engineer and his take was the same as yours, that the problem with our Maytag Bottom Freezer Refrigerator (MB2227PEHW) is indeed the overload/relay on the compressor. Our question is this: How is the relay mounted and how do we remove it? Is this the part that is mounted up against the compressor and do you just pull it off or are there screws to remove it?
Chas is a friend of mine and he's tied up but if your working with him then still pay him and not me but the overload and relay just pushes onto the compressor and it comes as one piece and you just change the wires from the old one and plug them to the new one and plug it on ,,, the part number for it is 67002166 ,,,, hope this helps
