i have an older dryer i just bought. It has a 3 prong to plug into the wall, i just bought a 4 prong to fit the wall outlet, but now i need to switch it on the dryer. the dryer has 3 gray wires plugged into the dryer(without color coded) and i have a green, white, red, and black to switch it to. How do i know which color goes where, and where does the extra one go to ???
ok , first of the green is your ground. this connects to the cabinet of dryer, the white wire goes on the center post this is your neutral , and the red and black wires one on each side of the white, if you have no screw to connect the green wire you can put this in the center with the white if theres a ground wire connecting center to cabinet.hope this helps , thanks Bryan
