I Have a Kenmore Air Purifier Model # XXXXX .It has the filters you take out to clean. I just took them out to clean. Let them dry. Now I'm getting a static spark.It so strong it turns the machine off. Whats the answer?

I can't find a diagram for this unit on Searspartsdirect, bit it is an electrostaatic air cleaner.

High voltage doesn't like pointy things. This is what it will discharge from.
Look for discolored areas that there may have been an arc from. Report what you find.

There may be a clip of sorts that makes contact with the ground of the unit. This may be bent so it doesn't make contact anymore.

These are only guesses because I can't see the unit.

So, inspect the unit for what possibly be grey dots and look for anything pointy out of place. See if you can determine where the arc is originating from.
