I have a recent model Frigidaire upright freezer and a mid

Resolved Question:

I have a recent model Frigidaire upright freezer and a mid 1960's vintage refridgerator/freezer that both run on 110V power. During some construction work, a worker accidentally connected them to 220V power for long enough for a burn smell to come from both. Neither works now. Are either worth repairing or should I go shopping for new appliances?

well you would have to do some testing to see if the compressors have been damaged the old fridge is probbaly not worthwhile to repair because of its age the freezer really only has a few parts isupect the thermostat would not have been affected as its only a switch most likely the compressor internal windings have been over powered and burned unfortunatley it is probably better to replace these appliances compressor install are around 300 to 400 dollars hope this helps and is an acceptible answer if so please click accept and thank you Kevin
