What is the make and model?
Customer: replied 8 years ago.

it is a 2004 side by side fridgadaire w/ water and ice thru the door buttons to choose cubed or crushed. it doesn't matter which button you push you get crushed. and it's not stopping making ice when full and it starts frosting heavily on the front of the ice holder and on the top of the shoot the ice comes out of

thanks, laura

You have three unrelated problems. First the solenoid which controls whether crushed or cubed ice dispenses has locked up, hopefully from ice. If you remove the ice bin you will see a rectangular hole about 1" x1-1/4". This is where the crushed/cube solenoid is located. You should be able to move this freely up and down, if not you will need to force it or take the whole assembly out and thaw it, being sure to dry it thorouhgly before reinstalling. The solution to the overproduction will depend upon whether the icemaker is mounted to the left side of the freezer or to the back wall. Does the ice dispenser door seal fully against the dispenser body? That is where the frost buildup is coming from.
