We have an old GE side by side in the garage. (I know the problems that creates) but my question is: Which is the lowest temp setting for the freezer as you turn the dial? the A setting or the E settin. How about the frige 1 or 9?

E would be the coldest setting in the freezer. How this works is it starves the air going to the fridge compartment. The causes the machine to run longer to cool the fridge down to its proper temp.

By running longer, the freezer temp is lower.
