HiCustomer

Thank you for using Just Answer.

A good deal of the time this turns out to be the lid switch. It would need to be checked mechanically (does it click) and electrically (does it complete a circuit when switched).

If you would like more specific information, we will need your model number. You'll find it under the lid on a sticker. It's usually in crevice where the lid meets the cabinet.

Reply to Bernard S.'s Post: It is a front load washing machine, so it is not a switch on the lid...

HiCustomer

Yes, you would be correct (I couldn't tell from your post).

What is the model number? We can take a look at the other causes of this type of problem.

Is an error code showing?

We discovered that there was money and socks caught in the drain trap...

HiCustomer

Good work! That is exactly the next step! That is your problem.

I'm guessing you have the information you need already to reassemble. If not, let me know.

I am wondering what is fair payment considering we figured out the problem ourselves?
Expert:  Bernard S. replied 9 years ago.

HiCustomer

That's totally your decision.

What would you have thought was right if you were on this side?

If it wasn't any help. Then nothing is okay, too.

Maybe next time we will have the information you need.
