Our AMANA 8-yr.old side-by-side refrigerator, Model ...

Customer Question

Our AMANA 8-yr.old side-by-side refrigerator, Model SRD26VPE, does not make any ice anymore and the water dispenser just dribbles. Noticed also some water below; could not detect from where. The valve, rear lower back, seems dry. Any help is greatly appreciated. We are seniors and to call someone is just too scary at this time...... :-)

Hi,Customer, welcome to JustAnswer. From one senior to another lets get started at the wall valve where the supply tube is located. turn off water there and disconnect supply line. turn water back on,then off. if you have good pressure you have isolated problem to the unit itself. Now, the supply line-Check for kinks, disconnect at base off unit and reconnect at wall turn on/then off./supply line ok? Then it is probably your filter. These units have a replacable water filter .It gets stopped up! I am getting you a link to a site which might help. Thanks, Jay`Bamana&gclid=CLbBmfSkq5ECFRsRFQod0SSXeQ NOTE;THE DUAL WATER INTAKE VALVE MAY ALSO BE DEFECTIVE

Did you get my reply?
I tried already checking the water line, etc., etc.. The problem seems to be with the impossibility to get water from the dispenser from our AMANA side-by-side Refrigerator, Model SRD26VPE, approx. 8 yrs. old, and ice from the ice maker. We had the filter replaced and I was holding the dispenser down for 5 min. as told to do. The only result was that there was lots of water coming from underneath the refrigerator. The valve seems dry and I can't find any other place where it could come from!? There is no pan underneath, which I assume is correct for this model.
Thanks for any help you may be able to give.
And thanks to Jay too!

Dear XXXXX: I trust that you got my previous reply!? In that one I explained that, although I appreciated Jay's quick response, I had tried already unsuccessfully the suggestions he gave me in his reply..... and I thanked him for that.

Since nobody else responded to my second posed question, I - in the meantime - scheduled for tomorrow, 2/8, for a professional to come and help us.

I value your site and hope that next time I/we will be more successfull with your help.

May I request to refund/recredit my account with the $9.?

With friendly regards, Chris
