Thank you again for your patience. This is a high-fired teapot likely made in the third-to-fourth quarter Twentieth Century. It was wheel-thrown with a lid and delicate attached spout. There is a natural iron glaze visible with ash build-up from firing in a wood-burning kiln. The teapot is wrapped in cord with a knotted cord handle. It has been pushed from the inside with a tool creating soft vertical swells.
Your teapot was almost certainly created by an individual studio potter (not a workshop) who was influenced by a Japanese aesthetic. Yours may be Japanese or Western in origin. The pot appears unsigned in the photos and I have searched my databases for a possible attribution. However given that the style of the teapot is quite international - it really isn't possible to name a specific ceramicist for now - and so must remain anonymous. There are very many pots in the marketplace that are by unidentified ceramists.
As a value I would suggest an estimate of $150-200 retail for a late Twentieth Century teapot by an anonymous but very confident and accomplished studio potter . Its a wonderful teapot.

I found this signature by the artist and paper work to go with the tea pot that you had given me info on… his name is*****…. I don’t know if this would change the value rather than it being an unknown artist….
Hi again and thank you for your patience - I had to be away from my desk for a few hours this afternoon. Its very good to see the signature as it would change the valuation somewhat. Tom Neugebauer is a listed potter. There were a number of pottery studios offering workshops focusing on the Japanese aesthetic in the 1970's and 1980's in the PA / NJ area including the use of wood-burning kilns such as in the studio of Peter Callas. Tom Neugebauer appears to have worked in that area at that time. So as a new valuation I would suggest an estimate of around $450-550 for a teapot by the listed potter Tom Neugebauer.
