Thank you for your patience while I researched your coin. The 1943 Penny was struck in bronze and copper, but most of the coins from that year were struck in zinc coated steel. This penny certainly does not resemble the zinc coated type, as it has a shiny steel luster to it. But of the copper and bronze type there are only 40 known in existence. That is how rare they are. And because the coin is so rare, it has been counterfeited numerous times. Your coin has a great deal of wear to it. but I am concerned with some of the inconsistencies within the lettering of "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST". "LIBERTY" seems to be tapering in size towards the edge of the coin, and the W of we seems collapsed in to a V shape and the T of trust seems to be tilting to the left. I also don't see a button hole on Lincoln's lapel. These could be indications of a forgery. The other area of concern is the haloed areas where the metal grows lighter around Lincoln's profile. Normally, these areas get darker as they trap dirt in areas of oxidation. You should have the coin tested, In person, with a reliable coin dealer who is PCGS certified so you can have the coin graded as well. This would benefit your sale and make the item more valuable. You may need to go to more than one dealer, and be cautious about any offers they make you, while considering these at the same time. If this was a 1943 no mint mark copper bronze penny, it would be worth approximately $28,000 dollars. But the odds are not in your favor. You need to verify this is a copper bronze penny, and not a copper coated fake.
