I have a Nichols & Stone Co. Gardner Mass. Chair # 2004-1, The chair back is the same style as the N / S stamp that is in the wood on the bottom of the seat beside the paper ID stamp.It seems to be a cherry wood ,the seat itself is two pieces doweled together thru the back of the seat . The front part of the seat is one piece with a hole in the center which measures 9 1/2" in front, 7 1/4" back, and 7" on both sides. both sides and the back have a slight radius in them. This part of the seat has what looks like a 1/8" straw like material inland and woven into the shape of a cross on the top and bottom with a depression in the hole for comfort .The main back rest is doweled into the front part of the seat, with 8 tapered spindles and 2 support tapered spindles doweled into the back rest and the back piece of the seat .My aunt used this to do her paperwork at her secretary desk . This was left to me by my great aunt when she past away 15 years ago she was 96 years old at that time. … read more
