I have a Columbia Grafonola that I'm trying to find a value…

This is the hand-cranked floor model 1910, produced by the American Gramaphone Company. The wood is walnut.

In excellent condition, a reputable antiques dealer would charge around $1,500.00 for this piece.

In as-is condition, selling yourself, I'd estimate this at around $500 - $600, plus perhaps another $100 for the records. The problem is that due to the size,you are limited to a pretty local market, and you don't have a storefront to attract customers, so the dropoff in price is pretty steep.

This is going to be a difficult sell via auction house--Bonham's definitely won't take it. They've greatly upped their minimum values lately. At auction these tend to go for $100, $200--not big sellers. You'd do much better with an eBay local or Etsy local listing, Craigslist, or a local Facebook sales group.

Wow, $5000 would be a miracle! Yeah, typically it's $1500 at an antiques store, $500 direct sale, $200 auction, for these nicer models.
