Customer Question

Hi. Yes. I have a covered dish and I'd like to know how much it's worth. On the bottom it says, "Roger's and Bro" with a star shape beside it.
JA: I always love having an appraiser look at my stuff. Sometimes its turned out to be surprisingly valuable. Tell us what else you do know and the Antiques Appraiser will be able to better assist you.
Customer: What I told you is about all I know. I haven had luck looking onlin either.
JA: Is there anything else the Antiques Appraiser should be aware of?

This is a Rogers Brothers silver plated (not sterling) butter dish

made circa 1880 in pattern number 1788, no formal pattern name.

This master butter dish has a current value of $35 to $45 retail.

I've seen several butter dishes but this is round?
Expert:  Rarewares replied 4 months ago.

Yes, round was a common shape for a large, 1 lb chunk of butter.

Oh! I see. Okay. So when you said 1880, do you mean it was made in 1880?
Expert:  Rarewares replied 4 months ago.

Yes, i was made circa 1880 which mean within a few years around that date.
