Customer Question

I have a antique grandfather clock that id like to get re-appraised
JA: Don't you just love the idea of finding something valuable in your attic? I do, but I think all I have up there is junk my brothers abandoned before they left home. Always a good idea to check things with the antiques appraiser, though. Tell us what else you do know and the antiques appraiser will be able to better assist you.
Customer: An English mid-17 C. Elizabethan grandfather clock.
JA: Is there anything else the antiques appraiser should be aware of?
Customer: Arched bonnet top of oak with yellow pine secondary wood. The glass door flanked by pillared supports with a tendril carved surround. The brass face with foliate spandrels at each corner, black enameled numerals in chapter ring with bright cut designs, signed Edward Samm Linton, the entire waist carved with pinwheels, flowers and tendrils with a stripe ground. The thumb molded base similarly carved with a shaped apron and bracket feet.
