Customer Question

I have an antique piece and I am not sure what it is. It's 7 ft tall, and HEAVY, HEAVY solid steel. It looks like an armoir style cabinet on the outside. It was three sections of cabinets. Top cabinets are open door style and inside have lots of vertical cubbys. Middle are smalled open door style, but nothing inside, just open space. The bottom is the same as top, open door style with cubbys, only there are both vertical and horizontal cubbys in the bottom section as well as 4 vertical drawers that completely pull out . What is this thing?!

Hi, my name is*****'m a certified appraiser, and I'd be happy to help.

This is a vintage industrial file cabinet, 1900-1950. Originally each of those spaces would have had a file drawer with a label space and handle.

Any maker's marks, stamps, or labels anywhere at all on the piece?
