Purchased a 'street light' used to light the way through

Customer Question

Purchased a 'street light' used to light the way through small towns that didn't have electricity. They were made by the C.T.Ham Mfg. company-these were made from 1821 to 1825, not regerested until 1886. They used kerosene to light them.

Is this light on a pole or is this one that is hung from a pole. Like a lantern?
