Customer Question

I Have an International Silver Company "dish" shaped like a leaf, probably a candy dish(?), with the numbers 8198 stamped under a crown looking stamp or logo maybe, with IS outlined, in middle. Is this something to have checked out or just use as a catch-all!?

The International Silver pattern shape 8198 of a leaf form serving dish is silverplate and not sterling silver. Silverplate does not have a precious metal melt down value like sterling. On today's market, this sells for an average of $10 - $15.

Here are links for you to matches and their sale prices:

For shining, since it is silverplate, just a light touch with a polishing cloth can shine it up. Do not over-polish or use a heavy touch, as it may rub the plating off.
