Customer Question

So, I have a piece of Chinese art, a carving. Can't tell if it's wooden or stone. Very intricate flowers and vines, yet there is a hollow part as well, as if this might have been used as a vase. It was given to my grandfather in NYC some 80 years ago as payment for clothing that could not be paid for in cash in an area known as Canal St. in NYC. My grandfather was a women's coat and suit maker. Any thoughts?

Hello, Sounds like it may be a Chinese soapstone carving. Though in order for me to properly assess what you have I will need to see images. If you had already attached images to your initial posting, they are not showing for me here on my end. Please send the photos at your convenience. There is not an extra charge to provide more pictures here. ~Nora
