Customer Question

I have an 8 piece old Chinese tea set. It's in a green box with text mostly in chineses, but has some English numbers such as "7501" and "1975". All the pieces are hand painted with pink blossoms and some green leaves. The set seems very old and it looks like it could date back to 1975.

I will be pleased to help you.

Please know that I cannot accept any requests for "live conversations" such as phone calls.
I give my best answers in writing when I have time to think about them.
Sometimes a "Chat box" will pop-up asking if you would like a live conversation. Please know it is not from me.

Am I correct in assuming that you are asking for value? Anything else?

Kind regards,

The box and set look Japanese to me.

Why do you think it is Chinese?

Kind regards,

I googled 7501 and came up with Mao porcelain, peach blossom set.

In the antiques world, an item is not an "antique" unless it is over 100 years old.

Your 1975 set is considered "vintage" as it is only 41 years old.

As a vintage, hand painted, 10 piece, boxed Chinese tea set, it has a retail value of $110-130 assuming good condition.

The peach blossom is traditionally a sign of good luck to the Chinese.

If you would like to sell your set, the internet gives you the largest pool of buyers.

Online auctions such as eBay usually result in values lower than retail.

Try the site It charges only 20 cents to list and 3.5% of the final sale.

A private seller to a dealer or at auction can expect 30-60% of retail value.

I hope I have helped you.
