Customer Question

We have a extremely rare book" in brand-new condition which we know is perhaps the only one of its kind in existence. It is copywrited by Walt Disney and Marc Durrant. It is an original hard-cover "mock-up" of Disney's first production of "The Living Desert". It is the French version, written entirely in French, "Desert Vivant". Instead of regular printed-copy pictures, it has the ORIGINAL photographs actually affixed to every page. It is the original edition of what the studios would have used to make other copies. We inherited this from our step-mother who had interest in Disney, even before they opened "Disneyland" here in California in 1955. It is in nearly mint condition. No flaws. Could you kindly give us a suggestion or two on where to go from here, as we would like to sell it or put it up for auction. It has 75 pages. This original and thoroughly preserved "mock-up" is hard-cover, one-of-a-kind was printed in Switzerland in 1954.
Thank you for your kind (and thorough) response.

This sounds like an interesting and exciting early Disney prototype, in essence.

The best way to sell this would be through a speciality rare and antique book auction.

Here are some suggestions of companies to contact:

PBA Rare Book Auctions in San Francisco:

Swann’s Auction Galleries:

Bloomsbury London:

Heritage Auctions:

Australian Book Auctions:

Dominic Winter Auctions:

Bonham’s Book and Manuscripts Dept:

It is free to contact auction houses and get an estimate for sale. You can contact each auction house through their website.

You will send them photos and information. You would not be obligated to sell with any of them. Please bear in mind that estimates will vary from each business, and that the highest estimate is not necessarily a guarantee of a sale.
