Mural of Allan Pinkerton (on small section of wall) obtained

Customer Question

Mural of Allan Pinkerton (on small section of wall) obtained 50+ years ago from his abandoned house in Onarga, IL, where he had retired circa 1875 from the detective agency to start a tree farm and sell the lumber to the IC railroad. Absolute proof of authenticity including original building plans, sketches and photos from the Illinois Historical society taken circa 1936, now available online through the Library of Congress. There were many murals in the house, painted in 1882 by F.W. Seyer, an artist whom Pinkerton reportedly brought over from Scotland for the purpose of the murals. Other murals included civil war generals and large battle scenes, all destroyed now. Google "Pinkerton House Onarga IL" for tons of info, including photos of the mural depicting Allan Pinkerton.
