Customer Question

Hi, Tim-
I have a very old painting on wood panel, signed cornelis bega. It is an inerior tavern scene with a bbarmaid serving 2peasant men. It is quite dirty and so looks very dark, but I really do not think i should have it cleaned es3pcially if I want to sell. What is my best course of action to get this sold?

Hello, this is Tim. First since you are looking to sell the painting, most auction houses recommend to not clean. Next you should approach one of the larger auction that conducts auctions of old master paintings. Both Sotheby's and Christie's have old master departments. You can initiate the process by calling:

Sotheby's Old Masteer Specialist

Calvine Harvey

Specialist, Sale Manager
