When assessing an artist's work, appraisers must look at sales of works by the same artist. Art gallery sales prices are private.
We must then go to auction sales prices which are public. When using comparable work by the same artist, medium, subject matter and size are factors to be considered.
You have a colored lithograph.
These are some auction results for colored lithographs signed by Peter Max:
16.5 x 12.5" - Leslie Hindman - 7.25.14 - Sold $500.
26.5 x 18.65" - Leslie Hindman - 7.25.14 - Sold $875.
14 x 10" - Freeman's - 7.15.14 - Sold $344.
Adjusting for size, your lithograph has an estimated auction value range of $650-750 assuming good condition.
A private seller to a dealer can expect 40-60% of retail value.
I hope I have helped you.
