You do indeed have an original pencil signed stone lithograph print by the artist Leon Karp (1903-1951).

Karp was a very promising and talented ‘part-time’ artist who died quite young from complications in surgery.

The image you have either came from his Circus Family series or his Harlequins & Mummers series. Some of these images were used in print ads such as DeBeers from when he was art director of the advertising firm, N.W. Ayers. A search for an exact match did not yield such.

He is one of those artist’s who needs a re-surgence, or renaissance of his body of work so as to bring prices up.

There was a museum show in 2003 that helped nudge his market a bit. It was a retrospective of his 100^th year and held at the Woodmere Art Museum.

His signed prints have recently sold at auction in the $75 – $150 range.
