i am trying to find the value of a william mctaggart painting the painting is oil on board it measures 15 1/4 in width x11 1/4in in hight it is signed and framed it is a landscape of rome

hello again alan the dots are all diferrent and when you look below the black arches on the left the purple colour looks like water colour but the black squigle running from left to right above his signature seems to fade almost as is the brush or whatever was running out of paint also on the back there is a label which reads compliments othe XXXXX XXXXX organization hope this helps , martin

Hello Martin, it is a print I wish I could tell you what is of this artist was born in Scotland (1835 - 1910). At auction I would estimate it at £5 -£12 if framed add £25 more. It looks like Red Square in Russia to me.

thank you alan the picture is framed in wooden frame glazed and on the white board under the actual painting it has the title as rome by sir william mctaggart 1834-1910 so i am puzzled as to why you think it could be red square?

Hello Martin, where he has the pool in St. Peter's there is a huge column with a cross it is not there neither are the saints but this is an impressionist piece so it makes since now that we have a title.

Hello Martin, like with many artist they change in styles looking at the time he was living I think that he was influenced by Van Gogh he must of went to Paris and hung out at the salon he got around. His works in oils sell for up to £31,000 - £62,200. Now that you mentioned it I want to place a value of £31 -£ 93. It is Vintage and from XXXXX XXXXX Org. Make note to St.Peter’s in the description.
