Detection of missing heart beats using an Alta Hr. I have
I have been able to determine when there are missing heartbeats by looking at the daily record when I am at rest. This is possible because I have a heart pacer and know the set point value, eg,55 bpm; depending on my activity the day before, I can cause missing heart beats. For example, at the extreme the Fitbit reads 40 bpm and this number is ***** by manual(digit) measurements at the wrist. The Fitbit is reading the right value.My question is "how does the algorithm ignore the missing beat. It appears that it simply measures the total number of beats for a given time, computes the time interval and then the heart rate. It turns out this is an important question. Oximeters struggle with A-fib and AT and compute the wrong numbers due either to the signal to noise ratio or the algorithm used to compute the heart rate.
