Need to activate a new android phone. It asked for my gmail address which is***@******.***. It then asked for the password ***** rejected the original p/w taslan123 and when I substituted Google's new (14 Nov 2016) p/w of 471286 that was rejected too! What to do?

That p/w came from Google in Nov 2016 to my shaw email account. Since then I have tried several time to confirm my gmail account. A few minutes ago Google gave me a new p/w of 580741 which merely raised the response from Google that they thanked me for confirming my shaw email but I would have to use https://g.co/recover, which I have yet to do either on the moto G4 or on my PC

I have already paid for $56 for no effect. Allow I believe that phone contact would be more effective I resist paying any more until you have shown your worth. Please proceed with this contact with my PC.

Ok, that is not the password, that is the verification code you need to use to reset the password.

Use this link

https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery

And go through the password ***** reset the password.

Then when it sends you the 6 digit code you need to put it in on the webpage and then you can reset the password

I went through recovery but Google still refused to acknowledge my ownership of the email account. So I set up a new account using the same address (which Google said was not available because the address was already taken!) so I changed a digit and now I have a usable address
